Emergency Services Responsibilities

The Emergency Services is the organization that responds to natural or man-made disasters to protect the lives and property of community residents.  In addition, this unit provides assistance to other emergency response organizations when additional manpower is needed.

The siren will sound for the following emergency situations:

Tornado warning
70+ mph sustained winds
Occurrence of a hazardous material incident

When the Siren Sounds:

Take cover .
Tune in to local media or NOAA weather radio at frequency 162.425 for further information.
DO NOT CALL 911 unless you have an emergency situation requiring immediate attention.

Planning for an emergency before one occurs is wise.

Have an emergency plan in place.
Designate a location for family members to meet.
Have a flashlight, battery operated radio and fresh batteries on hand

Rescue Squad

The Rescue Unit provides emergency medical services to the citizens of Coopersville and Polkton Township at the EMT specialized level.   In addition, Rescue Unit members are the second member of the two member team from Life Ambulance.   Life provides ambulance and paramedic services to the area.

Siren Testing

Sirens are tested on the first Friday of the month at 12:00 noon.  The purpose of the sirens is to notify residents of any emergency situation.
