Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer
City of Coopersville, MI (pop. 4,500) is seeking a full-time Treasurer/Financial Officer. The current treasurer, 28 years with city, will retire at year’s end.

Appointed by City Council, the treasurer serves as chief finance officer and reports directly to the city manager. We seek a candidate with a minimum of five (5) years experience in financial management and someone who is able to direct budget preparation; debt management; budgeting, procurement, user fees, taxes, investment strategies, risk management, capital projects, service delivery choices, utility billing, and numerous other responsibilities that ensure fiscal soundness. State and federal finances are factors as well. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Public Administration or related field with progressively responsible experience in public sector finance management or governmental accounting, preferably in municipal finance administration. Certification as a CPFO or CPFA, and/or CPA is desired, but not required. The person in this position regularly interacts with local businesses and the general public. Excellent personal communication skills are desired.
The Treasurer is responsible for the collection of all monies due the City and is responsible for the mailing of all real and personal property tax bills, the depositing of all monies received in the appropriate depository and the accurate reporting of all collections.
Responsibilities include a full range of municipal finance and treasury areas including budget, audit, general ledger, investments, financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and tax administration, oversight of utility billing, keeping the financial records of the municipality, and assisting the City Manager in the preparation and submission of appropriation measures, estimates, budgets, capital programs, and other financial matters.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced, public finance manager with a desire to assist the City of Coopersville in continuing its progressive and fiscally responsible financial posture. Experienced budget analysts, public treasurers, finance managers, or assistant finance managers/directors are encouraged to apply.

Election Workers Needed
The City of Coopersville is accepting applications for Election Inspectors. Serving as an election inspector at the polling site is a great way to participate in the democratic process. On Election Day, we count on civic-minded individuals to report to work at the designated time, prepare the polling place for voting, set up the voting equipment, process the voters, demonstrate voting procedures to the voters, and close the polling place at 8:00 P.M.
You must be:
18 years of age or older;
A registered voter;
A resident of Ottawa County; and
Able to serve from 6:30 AM until about 9:00 PM when all closing duties are complete.
Inspectors are paid for their time spent in training and working. You will be trained in election law and procedures and are required to work on election days at the Coopersville City Hall/Fire Station where elections are conducted. Election Inspectors must declare their party as a balance of party members must be maintained during elections.
