Council Update, April 27

4/23/2015

This upcoming City Council meeting will be extensive. We have a wide variety of issues that will be addressed with a few of them in the “critical” category. We have a very special guest, LaVonne Marshall from the Library, to discuss the proposed Coopersville Area District Library expansion and renovation. also, we'll have another budget workshop at 6:00 p.m. prior to the Council meeting. The public is welcome to attend. Try and stay warm in this brief cold spell and have an enjoyable weekend.

Dedicated Sewer Main Project

Load restrictions on roads have been lifted.  The contractor has now located equipment to commence the boring under I-96 and Deer Creek just west of the WWTP.  I’m sure you’ve noticed the contractor preparing the sites for boring especially at the end of River Street.

DDA Renewal

As was stated in the last council update, the DDA and administrative staff continue with the process of the DDA renewal. Public notices have been posted, published in the newspaper and sent to all tax payers in the District. The DDA Development and Tax Increment Financing Plan 2015 is in the process of being updated and will provide a guide for the DDA Board over the next 15 years.  There has been very productive debate and discussion on future projects for the DDA and how best to invest in the district to create opportunities for economic growth within the district itself which constitutes a large section of the city.

A copy of the Amended and Restated Tax Increment and Development Plan is available at City Hall for public review, which includes maps of the district and a legal description of the district boundary. There will be a public hearing on the DDA Renewal at the May 11 City Council meeting.
